One heck of a day.

Hello folks. It is not often that two legendary film makers share their birthdays together and both have been instrumental in coloring the canvas they have worked on. If one has shown how brilliance can be brought to reel the other have shown that reel can really be the real.
I am talking about the master creators of dreams Mrinal Sen and George Lucas. Both the film-makers have influenced me and millions of fans into taking the journey of sheer brilliance and epitome of … only what can be described beyond the imagination cinematic experience. Tell me who wouldn’t be impelled by Punascha or Padatik. Regarded by many as Sen’s greatest film, Bhuvan Shome (Mr. Shome, 1969) starred renowned Indian actor Utpal Dutt as a lonely bureaucrat who encounters the wife of a ticket collector accused of taking bribes. The film’s use of improvisation and sardonic humour and its naturalistic depiction of rural India established it as a landmark of Indian cinema. Sen, born May 14, 1923, East Bengal, used a range of aesthetic styles to explore the social and political realities of his homeland. He also won the National award for Best Film four times. His films were screened in a number of International film festivals and also won several awards. He has served as a jury member at the Cannes International Film Festival. He was really the pioneer of new age cinema he had equal admiration for the works of his contemporaries Satyajit Ray and Ritwick Ghatak. And he still, at the age of 90 awes us.

George Walton Lucas, Jr born on May 14, 1944 at age 69 is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and entrepreneur. He founded Lucasfilm Limited and led the company as chairman and chief executive before selling it to The Walt Disney Company on October 30, 2012. Writer director and master creator of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series set new standards for sophistication in film visuals and sound. He made his mark under the able guidance of Francis Ford Coppola and went on to create the fictional sensation that took the world by a tide of fantasy. The Star Wars series was his mind-work and also he started the Indiana Jones series that featured the charismatic Harrison Ford as an archeologist. It also included the shares and interest of his good friend Stephen Spielberg. He is undoubtedly one of America’s most famous film-makers who defined sci-fi genre in his own term.
Kudos to the two pioneers of new-age cinema for giving us those goosebumps moments and sharing with us the figment of their brilliance. Happy B’day.
Psst: It’s also the b’day of Cate Blanchett and Sophia Coppola who are extremely talented movie-persons having earned accolades all over the world. Also sharing todays bday with them is Mark Zuckerburg who needs no introduction (and hell I didn’t give one too).
I guess the title suggests the day.
