Season Of Suspenses... Grisham tales

My latest today.Do check out...

Ok So the rains are dripping like anything and it seems that the sky is melting like butter on a hot pan (So bad at giving examples); but anyways on this time like any homo sapiens (that's human for all who thought I was talking dirty) I too feel different at this time of the year. Being a movie buff and an avid foodie it is my time to gorge on the delicacy that adorns the streets of Kolkata. The bhajis and telebhajas, pakoras and everything good. The movies are actually making a splash at the box office and it is like heaven to bite sip and indulge in the extravaganza when the sky is splashing the whole city tip-top wet. But there is another thing that comes along with the rainy season.

It is the thrillers. The suspense reads that i have been hooked top for ages. From my childhood times I have been a novel junkie and during the rainy seasons I would curl up on the bed with a  nice suspense thriller and that would make my day. The rains bring back all kind s of memories but this is still strong because of my interest on reading novels not fading or inching a tip towards lessening.

Recently I read The Rackteer by John Grisham and boy was I thrilled. It's not like it's my first Grisham or anything. The confessions was the first of his novel that I read and trust me, I was pretty much knocked off by the socks. Yeah. and with The Racketeer it's no less. The plot is engaging and involves, like any other JG novels, ample court room drama and legal cross reference. Grisham, being himself a former an advocate and a lawyer  nevertheless keeps the things strong and to the point and more importantly accurate. The edgier dialogues, the twist; be it the letter after Bannister wrtes after getting out of the jail or the way he captures the gold huggets are truly worth reading; a must read if I may. And the character so leyered, Grisham clearly knocks it off. The story starts with  murder of Judge Fawcett and soon takes a bizzare turn where our protagonist is sent o the jail for a tax fraud, just that it wasn't his fault and the fraud was not of tax or anything like that. But the story is remarkable, the locales visited and escribed are truly capturing but it is the by-lanes of suspense and thrill that turns the pages quickly. Give it a shot if you haven't. There's FBI, a plastic surgery, family drama and lots of money involved. Just like good ol' Grisham. Ain't it matey!!!!

Happy reading

Kinda Missing it.........

My latest today.Do check out...

Yes I have been missing from my blog and I apologize. For those who wait (the numbers are sure bleak) for my blog post; it is really upsetting and I kind of feel I should write. But nevertheless my laziness contradicts. Anyways keeping the frustrations apart I choose to write today not because of I don't have anything to do (In that case toh I would have written everyday...) but because I think it requires a mention.

My college days are over.Officially. The results are out for my final exam making me a graduate college passed, degree holder able bodied Civil Engineer (OK the height was for the pretty girls, if, out there. Boys ignore maaro). Just imagine, a Civil Engineer??!!! Me? I mean, I never studied the whole B.Tech and whatever I knew in class twelve(not much, though) I forgot. But that's not I want to talk about. You'll find many talking about it. What I meant was that it's like an end of an era. Surely four years do not count as an era but then an era is a significant point of time a period of prominence and the college years are the same for me. I mean for whom it isn't. Everybody it is the time we learn new stuffs not just from books but form the life and know ourselves. The friends' concept is changed and the future is a scary time chasing us with our parents playing in loop the importance of being serious to stand up in life. Phew! it ends and how. The need to get a job, to keep up with the atrocities of life and the urge within to keep contact with those going in their direction. Friends...

Memories and times to relish. That was a time and now it's just memories that can only be revived in the social networking sites. So much is changed. The bunking, the canteen breaks, the comings, the goings, and the promise to see the next day, really nostalgia can never be clarified better than by experiencing the college term ends. Truly speaking everyone is busy and life leaves little opportunity to think about past at this juncture but since it was just all of a sudden and with the coming out of results (also I have nothing to do now but think)  it kind of feels like a long vacation and on the inside long for this to end quickly. SO that I can again text and call my friends and ask, "Are you coming tomorrow?" OR "Will you attend the so and so teacher's class?"

Like a true red fan of TONY STARK and IRON MAN I too tell that I have lots of feeling and nostalgia isn't one of them; but on the inside I too long to get back to the place where my heart is. Long to get back my heart. Just like Tony Stark.

Happy Reading. Guys.

The Filmdom Serendipity #2

My latest today.Do check out...

So guys hope you all have read the first edition of the post and I guess for that reason or for other reasons you are back. Well, actually my intentions were not of maligning the film industry or any particular profession but it is natural to all the film industries and that we have a proverb in Bengali, that te darkness dwells beneath the lamp. So here it is. I had, in the last post mentioned the stuffs that goes around and the actress issue (if you haven't read it...READ IT) So today am going to discuss how it happens and the other stuffs that happens because of it...

The objectification of women, largely now a days that is, due to the so called item songs; brought to us by the top most actresses who are supposedly the beacon of hope for thousands of girls across the country. Lyrics like'Tandoori murgi hu yaar, Katka le saiyaa alcohol se' is not only derogatory, but pathetic and in the mean time hypothetical too. For one they objectify girls as a material for lust not love. And the girls are following their idols, nevertheless. Again, it is the utter serendipity, or confusion between relish or realise. There are movies where you realise the power of hope, power of joy, freedom and inner-self and then there are movies where you go to relish the actresses and scenes and rip out your ticket money from the duration of the film. It's just sad. Films could be such an enlightenment.

And this days so many crimes are occurring in the broad daylight against women. Now people will tell that its sexist to say that films are causing this accidents but the focus of male attention shifts towards a cheesy line only when it is shown in the films. Most of the time, nowadays its everyday in Kolkata, someone or the other biker gangs 'so called' are teasing women in the middle of the road and in the middle of the day. And the pick up lines are the cheesy and smelly lines of the movie dialogues they must have heard last night and thought it packs quite a punch. it is just pathetic that police are helpless against them and they roam free. Not just this instance but overall the perspective of men towards women are changing and not for good. And  don't tell me films don't have a large say in this. Such a overwhelming and influencing medium to reach people and such careless acts put up for money. I mean in which way is a scene, where a  model almost skimpily dressed soaking the attention and guffaws of men and drenching in alcohol; is going to keep modesty of girls and help keep a men sober. And then easy alcohol coupled with political power and civilization is lost from the streets of Kolkata. Not just Kolkata but the whole world is no different a stage for this drama.

Yet we keep gazing at the shine of the silver screen and look up to it. Want to be a part of it. what do you say Guys, does this really deserve a silence or should we say something. Your choice. your life.
Hope I put enough substance to make this series a viable read. Look up for more..You can comment on my Google+account or email me at indra765@gmail.com.

Happy Reading.

P.S.Come back for more. Tomorrow I am going to gibe a review of a brilliant film I watched at the theaters to today. Just awesome movie. Stay tuned.

The Filmdom Serendipity...

My latest today.Do check out...

It has always been confusing. A delusional maze of bling, blitz and fashion laden with paparazzi flashes and invitation of a cream life; the top notch state of being. Always a dream of commons and the idol of the unemployed, house of the dreams and the mystique of the bored; the flame has always lived upto it
's true stature when it came to the moth. It has always engulfed every evening the thousands of moths that has guzzled the thoughts of touching it, yet, a new set of moths tire their wings for the never-land the very next evening. Much as the filmdom or the woods of Holly, Bolly and our very own Tolly.

The latest to fall in this queue is Nafisha khan or to many people, Jiah 'Nishabd' Khan. Nishabd because inspite of acting in a string of flops but powerful movies; Housefull-2 so as to say; Bollywood still remembered her as the young girl debuting  opposite Amitabh Bachhan. A dream debut only few gets a focus to. Yet her luck and courage didn't accompany her to the life path. It is indeed a shocking revealing and attention seeking story of a girl who came to pursue her dreams but got the better of it. But trust me the story is not unique. Only a bit more focused and exposed. But unique, nope. Several girls have died in process of becoming a size zero Kareena or a chikni Katrina. The atrocities escape the broad day light because the money and power casts a dark cloud over the sunny life. Yet new waves comes to seek the flame of eternal solitude. The eloquent state of being. latest to fall in THIS line is Poonam Pandey.

Just imagine. How a low key  model, who promised to strip if India wins the world cup has debut in the film Nasha. It seems Bollywood has simply lost it's vigor and gave way to serendipity, the utter confusion between money and skill, quality and quantity. And it's befitting, after all. Because it seems the only way now to the silver screens through the mushy by lanes of skin show and erotica. What some blokes blatantly refers to as pornography while intellectuals like Veena Malik says, it's erotic arts. What a shit. Leading the  pack is our Kahanii Ghar Ghar ki Sunny Leone,  high maintenance Veena Malik, self proclaimed socialite and media seductress Poonam Pandey so to name an illustrious few. Our very own Katrina Kaif came through the very same dusty old shortcut to Bollywood, BOOM. And now Bollywood has it's own genre, Erotic thriller. Hold the thought...er and everything else too.

Maybe Kat should do that type of movie more. After watching films where she stands like a dud or a damsel in distress it seems that is the only type she can show some action. Taking into account Ek Tha Tiger. But seriously don't you think it is really going too much......

The adverse effect it is causing and teh what ever affects it are very seldom thought about. This is a rotten apple and I will show you how it rots the other staes and status of being of the society. How this one rot transfers to several apples. And that sometimes its too costly for others. Wait for the next post for the observation. I bet it will be eye opening...

Till then, Happy Reading.

JUST SAYING...again

My latest today.Do check out...

It seems that people really enjoy the posts that are relative to adverse condition or have an association with the woes of someone or the other.I have found out that whenever I post something about some incident of being harassed by men or nature or someone else got harassed, it immediately generates viewership as opposed to say some general topics like the last one, which was based on Ice Creams (I did put some bright photos for attraction purpose.) But it was stupid to expect a cup full of words on the item you can have a cupful anytime. Or as Twitter would say, it was #fail. Neither the fictional accounts that I put up on my blogs for change seems like a ground breaking Idea. The post that's currently riding high on views is 'The Potpourri of thoughts' (if you haven't read it; darn you!*#$@%*$#%?? Go read it damnit). Anyways getting back my cool; the topic for that post was among other things the woe of a french-woman in Kolkata, recently in news. It was in news recently. Any ways and the post that is popular the most is (one of my favourite too...) is the one that generates lots of emotion. It is 'Ma..Ammi...Mother....' I am sure some of you must have read it. It's my heart out. Make sure you check it. You can connect yourself to it.(er..I hope so)

Anyways the point is not to advertise my past blog posts but to  make a point (without exaggerating it of course) that when I write something and it goes unappreciated (oh! to hell with appreciation, sometimes it goes without a view even.) it makes me feel less. I think that I have somehow wasted some of my vocabulary, some momentary fusion of words in constructing a phrase which, if orderly presented before a group, and in some other manner and/or time would have led to something good, if not prize-able; but instead I used them for something, rather somewhere, where it lay wasted without even a look, held in the cobwebs of foolish posts from teenagers in several social networks like facebook or twitter in this case Google+. I mean it's ok to spend your time posting posts that you want into the social networks, but what everyone is posting this days is preposterous. Instead taking a look at my blog wouldn't have hurt, you know. (Please don't kick for this advertisement of my blog.

Oh and by the way if still haven't figured it out, i really didn't have anything to say so I thought I would be goofing around. AM sorry this was really not worth it.

Happy reading.

POTPOURRI OF THOUGHTS......

My latest today.Do check out...

Rain rain.... the sky wept times and again today and although it was supposed to be a shower of happiness it is not for me today...certainly not a reason to enjoy. For several reason. The roads are clogging, the autos and buses spilling the water to the pedestrians (actually me. Who gives anything about anyone else when my kameez is dirty.) The feet gets crappy and traffic is nothing but worse. But these are not the main reason that stole the cheer from the shower. I thought I would talk today about the books I have read. It occurred to me that although I have said I would discuss books especially novel, and I being a voracious reader, its truly surprising I never talked about it. Of course I will come back to the REASON but let me give a brief about the books  I recently read.

From my recent reads there is Sir Archer's The sins of the Father, which is the second book of the five book series The Clifton Chronicles. The second book is equally tantalizing and if I haven't mentioned my all previous book reading experience were blown away when I read Only Time will Tell. The first book of the series was also the first book of Sir Archer that I read. And was floored by the narrative skills. My salutes. Anyways moving on, The Rackeeter was the next. This suspense legal thriller was a grilling if not gritty read laden with Grisham signature and as usual a quick page turner. I finished it in 3 hours flat. He always charms me with his research and the presentation. I am looking forward to the next books of these authors. Do catch these if you haven't. Simply mind blowing.

And now the reason. Recently an incident took place at the Jodhpur Park area of Kolkata. If yiou haven't heard about it then it is actually, two tourist a male and a female were chased by bikers who literally want to outrage the modesty of the woman. They hurled abuse and threw bricks and the tourists had to run around the area and the male counterpart had to take life risk to save the life of the woman before seeking refuge in the nearby apartment. The tourists were actually workers of Francaise Du Bengale and the rowdies were a known faces in the neighbor hood who ran errands. Truly unbelievable. The lady cut short her Kolkata stint and went back amidst protests.  There are several other news to break hearts, everyday there is, among Children killed for faulty mid-day meal cooked at a primary school and unrest leading to deaths regarding contesting for Panchayat election. But particularly this one grabbed my attention because after all things tried and tested by the government it comes down to this. Atithi Devo Bhava...

Happy Reading.....

Wah Milkha Wah!!!....

My latest today.Do check out...

Kolkata is spilling like anything and the streets are turning in to a fun aquatica ride especially in south Kolkata. The recent news that hit me are the quota riots that led to several ruckus in places like Allahabad. Truly sad how nations interest and economy is wasted at the mistake of the learned. Also Pran Saab passed away. A truly remarkable actor, was he, he fell short of nothing when it came to playing a role with coola nd elan. A recent winner of Dada Shaheb Phalke award, he is what people call the master artist. RIP.

Watched Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Truly a nation's salute  befitting the great sportsman Milkha Singh. The story-line, Milkha Singh himself has said, is 95% true to his life story and indeed falls nothing short of a patriot who served for his country. with all the great men veiled in the past and their glory trapped in time, or government does little to respect these great people. Of course given the recent scenario the government is busy in other acts that might be termed a racial-ruckus but let's not get into that. The very talented Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra brings the goosebump shaking life-story of the flying Sikh who struggled to live and ran to become a nation's hero. BMB is in all the way a standing ovation to larger than life soldier Milkha Singh.

And that brings us to Farhan Akhtar. boy did he do a great job or what?!! from those high altitude training with tyre tied to his waist to the running he went to the ledge and a step ahead perhaps to portray Milkha Singh. And indeed the portrayal was nothing sort of  life-like. Sonam Kapoor was good in the smallrole and also thriving for attention was Rebecca Breed who played the australian interest of Milkha Singh. She was cute. But you got to mention Yograj Singh. Yuvraj's father played a sturdy Indian coach to Farhan's milkha and I should say I am nothing short of impressed. He genuinely evoked passion and was a perfect foil to Milkha's character. the songs are good. Prashoon joshi deserves a hat's off for the script and the lyrics. The songs are truly brilliant and a classic mark of SEL. All in all a must watch. Of course a treatment like Tigmanshu Dhulia's Paan Singh Tomar should not be expected though both were based on real life story and athlete's. ROPM's BMB is more an ode to the Sikh; a commercially viable film. The locales were great and cinematography deserves an applause too.

Do try to catch the film that has received a healthy response from all over the world.

Happy reading.

Just saying....

My latest today.Do check out...

And returned. After the vacation worth taking I am back. if you've read the last post you must have understood why I am saying this. But it's over and I am back to driver's seat (not technically but ain't everyone the driver of their life. In that sense. Got it?) So like stupid cycle of life I get back to mend my life so that I reach a position that I can call mine. Where I can settle. A firm ground a  place where(...Ok got bit of Paulo Coelho inside. )

It's also the birthday of Katrina Kaif and I see many social networking sites flooded with wishes and photos. Also another thing that caught my attention is a poll like thing going on, about which asks the readers about the movie in which Katrina acted the best. No kidding. I mean ask about the movie in which she looked best or made a crackling chemistry; but best acting? Nope I don't think she acted anywhere better than in Boom. her first movie. haven't seen it. Go see. I urge....

kolkata is getting pleasant and bit wet too. The sun is bit down now and it's cool. I mean compared to some fiery days in the recent past. And I think that now since it has stopped raining I should go out enjoy the nature.I don't get out that much. And another thing after much late-being I finally caught IronMan3 and Man Of Steel. Gotta say both are amazing but I like Iron Man 1 the best. Nothing like that and man of Steel...well er..I think I miss the red underwear outside. It's just that it evokes nostalgia; the good ol' days before Nolan came and made everything alright. Not that am complaining. just saying. What about you guysss....

Thursday 4 July 2013

I AM XCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

My latest today.Do check out...

Guyzzz have you ever felt excited for something, waited for sometime with eagerness; something simple not with high price but something so very simple that its priceless. And when the moment comes you don't jump with the burst of excitement from outside but rather relish the moment from inside let it seep into you as you indulge in the extravaganza of the affair, as if it were something to be celebrated; but then again it's so simple that you don't feel like partying or going out, just; as I said, relish in itself.

I am at the pinnacle of one such moment or suffice to say dwelling in the penultimate orb of the galaxy of emotions. I guess I will let it slide by because I am going HOME tonight!!!!!

Yes, I am going home tonight from Kolkata. Now for those who don't know I live thousand miles apart from  my heart (OK I live 600 km away but it sure feels thousand) and my home is in Jalpaiguri (Again who don't know of this place, Google it. It's surrounded on one side by mountains and the other by dense green forest. A pure fore play of nature, I will say.) and I haven't been to my home for like five months. That's a lot right. And now that I have complete my graduation and sitting at my mess I think, hey what better way than to visit my house where I have spent my whole life...Ok I am getting a bit senti here. Let's cut it. This is a picture that I took from my house balcony in Jalpaiguri. No points for that I guess. Just trying my hand with my 2 MP phone camera. (OK it suckss)

The fact that I am going to my home after such a long time is indeed filled with happiness, oodles of happiness but I have got work here too and I am leaving them unattended for the time I will be away. Of course I could take them to my house but then I thought let's keep it that way else I won't be able to enjoy my stay there. Aargh!!! this juxtaposition kills me. One side of me wants to let the hair loose while the other constantly pins me to my responsibilities. Did you ever think like that? Did this type of confusion ever occur/ bug you? Let me know.

Also all my friends (well most of them) are here in Kolkata and I may not get to meet anyone except those that are there. But hey I will be meeting them after a long time and it's very touching right. Of course I got to admit that It's my fault that the friend s who are here, we seldom get to meet and that attributes to my lazy lone attitude which keeps me aloof. But what can I do, I was born this way (Ok sorry, no lady GAGA)

But I guess all things sidelined I am ready packing for my tour and by the way a friend of mine is also going with me so I guess i won't have to stay mum. It's always nice to travel with some one. Don't you think? And another thing. While I am away, although I am getting notorious for not posting regularly, I still mention it before hand I may be absent from blogging for some times. Will miss sharing things guyzzz. Hope you'll return  to reading and keep posted on this blog. And let me know if you have anything to share. Now only thing buzzing in my ears is Chris Daughtry's I'm going home (ha!ha!)

See you later. Happy Reading.

Whoa!!!! CHeck OUt!!!! Happy UFO day...

My latest today.Do check out...

Gosh !!! they have day reserved for this too. Hilarious!!! The fact that Men in Black do really exist are even thought real and there are people who report that they have been in contact, touched and to the extent of abducted by aliens. There are some interesting facts and stories that share the thoughts. Oh! If you think this as hoax then let me tell you... Jimmy Carter, Winston Churchill, William Shatner are some people who will tell you differently.

READ ON...

One of the most interesting and convincing cases is the abduction
of Betty and Barney Hill. The couple was driving home at night on Interstate
Route 3 in New Hampshire after a short vacation in Canada, when they
noticed a while light in the sky.

Barney got out of the car to look at the object through his binoculars. The light
got closer and it looked like a pancake shaped object with windows revealing
occupants. They got scared and went back home and realized they had lost a
couple of hours without them realizing it.

Betty started having nightmares about aliens and Barney had severe back. A
respected psychiatrist in Boston, Massachusetts, felt they were suffering from
anxiety syndrome and put them both under hypnosis.

He was convinced that they were abducted by the aliens. During the hypnosis
sessions, both revealed separately that they were abducted by bald aliens about
five feet tall, green skin and large heads. They said their skin, nail and hair
samples were taken. Betty said they inserted a long needle into her naval,
which they said was a pregnancy test and Barney had to provide a semen specimen.

One aspect of this investigation that cannot be explained to this day is that in
1963, Betty Hill drew a very detailed map of a star system that was only
discovered later in 1969. She said she was shown this map by the aliens.
Astronomers at Ohio State University compared their computer generated
map with this one and both were completely alike.

Skeptics point out the inconsistencies, including the aliens speaking to Betty in
English while Barney said they used some sort of telepathy.
Now, more than forty years later, it could not be proved that it was a hoax.

Now do ya realize how far men have come to actually think that there is actually Jadoo-Ki-Jhappi (From the film Koi Mil Gaya). Every year thousands of people report seeing one UFO and it has been surveyed that there are such reported cases of 192 cases every DAY!!!

And interestingly Bible has mentioned about this too. The first documented UFO sighting is in the Bible. The prophet Ezekiel described a "great cloud with fire enfolding itself, a wheel in the middle of a
wheel that descended and fired lightning bolts into the earth." AND The first photograph of a UFO was taken in 1883 by astronomer Jose Bonilla in Zacatecas, Mexico.

Awesome right?!!! Guess What maybe if you see a light crescent shape in the sky today, don't worry, Maybe they are on a holiday and celebrating World UFO day too by travelling. Nothing is impossible my friend. And better write all your accounts before some agent by the name J comes and pulls the trigger.

Happy Reading...

An apple a day..OOPS!!! Sorry....

My latest today.Do check out...

Life wouldn't have been simple without them. Well life is still isn't simple but they sure saved the day and sometimes we forget to give them their due credits. they take important decisions in crucial times and perform tasks, wellnot many human profession woudn't undertake in sane consciousness; and above all they save the lives of thousands of people; obviously in return for money but then who wouldn't. After all it's their profession, and in the profession they forget, sometimes their family life, dedicating to mankind and humanity. After all this they still manage to smile and keeps going. So maybe it's time and  about time exactly to say .. HATS OFF!!! Doctors....

Obviously many would argue about the unscrupulous activities, the high fees and events that sometimes surround them and also many would talk about the air that surrounds them but lets not talk about them now. Right now lets see the beauty and the passion of the work that are done by them. Afterall how'd you feel if you're graduating infront of your parents from college and some teacher comes and dissects what you've done whole of your college life. Makes sense, right?

But today Iwon't talk about the regular doctors who practice medicine; well they sure do a fabulous job beyond ovation and accolades but there are many people who did or still does a fabulous job and are doctors and you probably knew them for their job but never thought  they could be doctors. Let's check out these cool Rock Docs.

Che Guevara
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
William Sommerset Maugham
Anton Chekhov

All these people have contributed very generously to the arts section all the while possesing the medicinal knowledge and it is beyond doubt that they would ahev shone brilliantly in medicine too as they have glittered the cultural and entertainment world And if you are thinking about India, well we too have a bouquet of stars too who tread the medicinal path but took a nose dive to the limelight with their new found passion.

Among them the first name that comes to my mind is Dr. Palsh Sen who is the lead man in the band Euphoria, then there is Sidhu or Dr. Siddharto Sankar Ray from the faous Bangla band Cactus ets to name a few. So a very happy Doctor's Day to them all and everyone.

Maybe it's not bad once in a while to visit the doctor and keep the apple aside. What do ya think?
