Tall, Fat, short, black, white, crying, laughing, silly, serious, cool, hot, runner, walker, sitter, bitter, sweet, they are everything and they have one thing common. They are all big dreamers. They know no boundaries and word is yet to become their oyster. These little precious things don't know economics neither the oil crisis and they are not afraid to be themselves.
The boy in the silk kurta who is going to a party to the small girl who washes clothes at someone's house. The girl who is celebrating her 6th or 7th birthday probably has the same dreams and wishes as the 9 years old boy that delivered the peper to her house. Yes the financial background differs in this country so much so that while one grows up to be someone who fulfills the dreams while another in the same geopgraphic demarcations grows up knowing that it's sin to dream about some things in life. But yet these children never cease to dream. Their first demand is exhibited by crying and slowly other forms develope in them. While they think of what they want they know not of what they need. It's pretty exhilarating to watch them trying to beat the odds and make way for themselves I the world they have no idea of how big it is. Not as if we can do something even though we face the reality!!?
The government is coming up with more and more plans to secure the future of the children but are the enforcers really enforcing them? While young boys are constantly driven out of the house, deprived of education to provide for the two square meals young girls help their mother to meet the financial burden of the world even before they can spell finance. And there are social evils that simply stick to the society like a bad stain that need several washes in an expensive suit. The abuse, both physically and mentally are a great tormentor of child psycology and need really more specific attention. I guess till then no day is children's day. Because if one bites on a burger to celebrate or dances in a school party to celebrate this day while in the same part of the state or country another juvenile is forced to work on a mine or quarry for food or is taught to assemble a gun then where is the essence of the spirit shown by the great leaderwhile amalgaming his name with such an auspicious day... I guess you can't avoid some questions.
By the way do check out today's google doodle. It's really nice. Gayatri Ketharaman, you really made us proud. A very Happy Children's Day to all the kids. Also every one who are not kids per se but mentally they cease to be adults. Yeah including me. SO enjoy this day.
