Cannes Calling:

With the buzz hitting high notes at the one of the biggest gala the world awaits with seized breath; Cannes at France is going to present to you its sumptuous spread of fashion and films at their newest edition of bling called The Festival De Cannes. The last year’s poster featured Monroe celebrating the 65th year of the Cannes Festival. Here’s the latest and the last year’s poster for the Festival.

To be held from 15th May to 26th May and hosted by the graceful Audrey Tautou; this 66th edition of Cannes festival also marks the 100 years of Indian cinema and has asked India to be its guest country. The Festival will also open with Baz Luhrmann’s epic remake of The Great Gatsby which interestingly has a cameo from none other than our Big B. Playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, he really steals the show.  We sure would love to catch it in theaters.
Also to be noted is this years’ jury line-up that not only features Ang Lee and is presided over by Spielberg but gracing the panel is our very own Vidya Balan. Here is a link to the extended jury list. http://www.festival-cannes.fr/en/archives/juryLongFilm.html.
Also to be played at the festival is Bombay Talkies by four very talented directors of Bollywood. Do check all the films that are being shown in different categories. Satyajit Ray also features in this list with his masterpiece Lonely Wife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Cannes_Film_Festival.
But the highlight of this event is the fashion of the stars about to set the Red carpet on fire with their garb and get-up ranging from pret to couture and grace full to skimpy and peek-a-boos along with their clutches and minaudieres. And gowns. Lots of gowns; for the female stars attending the gala. I would definitely look for Vidya Balan, Audrey Tautou, our very own Sonam Kapoor, and Aishwarya Rai Bachhan who has been sizzling the Red Carpet every year. Also Emma Watson, Eva Longoria, Angelina Jolie (well actually Brangelina will both rock it, we all know for sure), Anne Hathaway; the list goes on. Remember Cheryl Cole’s last year’s fiasco over the flowing white-red gown (She looked like a mermaid chicken!) while the tulle skirt by Gucci premiers made hottie Salma Hayek gorgeous. The slits will again prevail in this festival and if worn correctly brings out the dashing side of someone even in classiest gowns or skirts like Angelina Jolie (pic). We do heart Diana Krugers’ dressing sense (or her stylist’s). Gracing in this pic in Christian Dior Haute Couture.

.
But let’s not forget the knights who dazzled in last year’s Cannes Festival. Let’s check out who became a prince and who a pauper.  According to today’s t2, The Telegraph edition Justin Timberlake, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Ryan Gosling are the drool worthy celebs demanding a check-out. Well I can’t argue.

Looking dapper at the premier of The Great Gatsby, this co-star of our Big-B really knows how to don a suit. So does Pitt present at the last year Red Carpet for the premier of ‘Killing them softly’. Really he does. And on picture is Mads Mikkelson(Le Chiffre of Casino Royale) winning the best actor award at Cannes 2012.

That’s all for today. Hope you enjoyed this special Cannes edition. Remember to follow the Festival and let me know what you liked or didn’t. Keep in touch. Happy Reading.
